Niger Delta Militants bomb NPDC pipeline

Barely 24 hours after Vice President Yemi Osibajo lead a Federal Government delegation to the troubled Niger Delta Region, a yet to be identified militant group  blew up  a crude oil line at Ugheli, Delta state.

 

The attack on the facility operated by the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company happened at about 4.35pm behind the SETRACO construction yard along the East/West Express Road in Ughelli, in Ughelli North Local Government.

Lt col Olaolu Daudu, the spokesman for the Joint Task Force, Operation Delta Safe could not confirm the incident but other security sources in the state confirmed the attack under condition of anonymity.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo,was in Delta state on Monday as envoy of President Muhammadu Buhari as part of the on going attempt to find a lasting solution to the Niger Delta crisis. He was accompanied by the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu; and the Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Gen. Paul Boroh amongst others.
