Chidi Samuel| Nigeria on Friday confirmed 1544 new cases of #COVID19 bringing the country’s toll 97,478.
The Nigeria Centre For Disease Contro in a statement late on Friday night also revealed that 78, 478 persons have so far recovered from the virus with 1,342 deaths recorded.
The health agency further noted that the new infections were recorded in 21 states and the FCT with Lagos recording 739 new cases, followed by Plateau-168, FCT-153, Oyo-91, Nasarawa-90, Rivers-80, and Kaduna-35.
Other states with new infections include, Edo-33, kano-29, Ogun-21, Delta-19, Sokoto-16, Akwa Ibom-11, Ebonyi-11, Enugu-10, Osun-10, Niger-9, Bauchi-8, Kebbi-8, KatSina-2, and Taraba-1.

Kaduna State Commissioner for health, Amina Mohammed-Baloni has tested positive for COVID-19.
The commissioner who made the disclosure via her Twitter handle on Friday, said she has since gone into isolation.
“I look forward to a quick and complete recovery from this infection. I appeal to everyone to observe the simple public health measures and COVID-19 prevention protocols such as the use of facemasks in public; frequent washing of hands with soap and running water or use of sanitizers; and avoiding large gatherings or crowded places,” she said.
Kaduna State has over 5,000 COVID-19 positive cases making it the third in the country according to latest report by Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
The state government has since closed down schools, night clubs, and other night clubs in an attempt to stop the spread of the virus.
