Nigeria confirms 410 new coronavirus cases as total infections near 50,000

Chidi Samuel| Nigeria on Tuesday confirmed 410 new cases of the novel coronavirus as the country’s virus load neared 50,000.

In a statement via its verified Twitter handle, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control confirmed that the new infections were reported in 15 states and the FCT.

Lagos, Nigeria’s pandemic epicentre, accordin g to the statement, reported 210 new cases, followed by the FCT with 45 new infections,and Ondo with 30.

Other states with new infections include, Plateau-21, Edo-19, Ogun-16, Oyo-13, Nasarawa-12, Bauchi-11, Enugu-10, Kwara-7, Kaduna-6, Anambra-4, Ebonyi-3, Abia-2, Rivers-1.

According to the NCDC, four new deaths were reported in the last 24 hours as the total toll from the virus rose to 981.

37,051 persons also recovered from the virus out of the 49,895 confirmed cases nationwide.
