Nigeria confirms 917 new cases as COVID-19 burden exceed 90,000

Chidi Samuel| Nigeria’s coronavirus burden crossed the 90,000 mark as the Nigeria Centre For Disease Control on Sunday confirmed that 917 new cases of the highly contagious virus were recorded across the country.

The health agency in a tweet via its verified Twitter handle, said the new cases were recorded in 16 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

According to the update, Of the cases, the FCT and Lagos reported more than 200 infections with the FCT leading with
222 new infections, followed by Lagos 214, Kaduna 119, Plateau 92, Nasarawa 50, Oyo 41, and Adamawa 33.

Other states with new cases include, Ondo – 32, Abia – 28, Ogun 19, Rivers 17, Kano 16, Yobe –14, Edo 8, Anambra 6, Ekiti 5, and Jigawa 1.

According to the update, Nigeria has so far recorded 90,080 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus with 75,044 discharges, and 1,311 deaths.
