Nigeria records 160 new coronavirus cases as total infections exceed 53,000

Chidi Samuel| Nigeria on Friday confirmed 160 new coronavirus cases as the country’s infection burden rose to 53, 477.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) which made the disclosure via a Tweet on its verified Twitter handle, said the new cases were recorded 13 states and the FCT.

According to the NCDC, Plateau topped the list with 44 cases, followed by Lagos with 27 infections, Katsina –18, Edo –15 and the FCT –14.

Other states with new infections include, Ondo –10, Oyo –9, Kwara –6, Abia-4 Nasarawa –4, Kano –3, Ekiti-2, Kaduna –2, Kebbi and Ogun –1.

The health agency further revealed that 41,017 persons have recovered from the virus with 1,011 fatalities.
