I am not mandated by law to wear uniform- Col Ali

Ebun Francis ||  The shadow warfare between the Comptroller General of Customs, Col Hameed Ali and the Senate continued Thursday when the Customs CG honoured the senate invitation in mufti against the senate directive to avail himself in uniform.

Col Alli told the senate that no law in the Country mandated him to wear a uniform in the discharge of his duties as the CG of Nigeria customs.

Ali’s position was fiecerly opposed by senator Ibn Na’Allah who stated that col Ali’s answer was disrespectful and cited sections 7, 8 and 10 of the customs act stating that the customs service share the same privileges with the police and other security agencies.

The Senate, subsequently asked the Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service, Col. Hameed Ali (retd.), to come back on Wednesday in uniform.
