Okorocha, former Imo governor arrested

Chidi Samue| Immediate past governor of Imo state police, Rochas Okorocha was on Sunday arrested by police operatives in Imo state.

The Senator representing Imo West at the national assembly was arrested after he unsealed the Royal Palm Estate sealed by the State Government on Friday.

According to the team led by Commissioner for Lands, Enyinnaya Onuegbu, the seizure was in compliance with the directive of the Imo State gazette on the report of the Judicial Commission of Enquiry on the recovery of Lands and other related matters.

But Okorocha, accompanied by his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu, and others broke the locks on Sunday to recover the estate belonging to his wife, Nkechi.

He went to the estate with his supporters, policemen, soldiers, and personnel of National Security and Civil Defense Corps and ordered the unsealing of the estate.

The former governor and his supporters were confronted by government officials and loyalists of Governor Hope Uzodimma, a situation that left many injured and cars damaged, according to an eyewitness account.

Okorocha’s arrest was confirmed by the state commissioner for information, Declan Emelumba and he is expected to be arraigned on Monday.
