Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Nigeria’s Vice President, has departed for France to attend the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development’s Anti-Corruption and Integrity Forum.
The theme for the forum is centred around how corruption in public sectors distorts development. Specifically, participants at the forum will talk about how “corruption and abuse of public office are a blight on democracies and a drain on public finances.”
Laolu Akande, Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media, said that the OECD helps global leaders, business executives and members of the civil society to discuss ways of fostering growth.
“They will discuss issues pertaining to “the cost to society of corruption, the use of political donations to buy influence, developments in corporate liability for graft, and the role of export controls to counter bribery.”
The forum begins on Thursday 30 March and ends on Friday 31. The VP is expected back in Nigeria by weekend.
