As at 8.10pm, the Accord party of incumbent governor Ademola Adeleke has extended its lead over APC.
The difference now 51,049 votes across the 2,972 polling units as captured by Athena Election Observatory.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) started the upload of results on its Result Viewing (IReV) portal shortly after voting ended across the state with about 86 per cent of the results already uploaded on the portal.
INEC’s upload of the results came after the elections were concluded in thousands of polling units in Osun State following the closing time of 2:30 p.m. fixed by the electoral umpire.
Sorting and counting of votes had earlier commenced in some parts of Osun State as voters cast their ballot in the August 15, 2026, in the governorship election conducted by INEC across the state’s 30 local government areas.
As of 2:50 p.m., sorting and counting of ballot papers had commenced at some polling units in Ilesa West and Ejigbo local government areas.
With 2.3 million registered voters and 15 candidates in the race, the election has recorded complaints over the functionality of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), allegations of vote-buying and an outbreak of violence at a polling unit in Ejigbo Local Government Area.
At 12:19 p.m., violence at Polling Unit 13, Ward 4, in Ejigbo LGA was said to have ensued after a youth found vote-buying materials allegedly belonging to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to the youth, the materials were seized because they could not watch illegality occur without doing anything about it.
But the people to whom the materials allegedly belong later arrived to whisk him away.
Voting had stopped at the polling unit following the eruption of violence, with INEC officials and residents scampering to safety.
