Pastor Adeboye gave me the go-ahead to be Buhari’s deputy – Osinbajo

Ebun Francis || Prof Yemi Osinbajo, Nigeria’s Acting President on Tuesday said that he consulted Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God before he accepted to President Buhari’s running mate in the 2015 general election.

The Acting President made the disclosure during the public presentation of a book titled: ‘Pastor E.A Adeboye: His Life and Calling’  at the Redemption Camp on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ogun State.

“I consulted Daddy (Adeboye) and he gave the go-ahead to accept the VP position; before then I was not a politician,” he said.

Prof Osinbajo said that apart from Pastor Adeboye, he also consulted his wife Dolapo before deciding to accept the request to become the Vice Presidential candidate of APC ticket.

The Acting President went on to extol the humility, dedication and leadership qualities of Pastor Adeboye, attributes that has lead the growth of the church globally.

“Apart from Coca-Cola, the Church is next in mileage across the world. And it all has to do with sincerity, dedication, and humility of Daddy G.O,” Mr. Osinbajo said.

The Chairman of the event, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo in his opening remarks described Mr. Adeboye as a man who has touched more lives than many politicians in the country.

“We are supposed to touch lives; but for Pastor Adeboye, he has touched more lives than politicians.

“He has been a man of God with a difference, whom I benefited from personally when I was consulting to contest the 1999 election.”

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, who was kept in the dark about the book said he would not have approved of the book if he was made aware of the plan.

“Because God wanted it to happen, I suppose. If I had been foretold, I would not have approved of it. And the reason is simple. Who should be celebrated? Me or the person who sent me the message (God)? Anyway, just like Baba (God) had requested, I forgive you all’’ he said.
