Ebun Francis || The house of representatives never asked any bank to unfrozen the accounts of Patience Jonathan, wife of Nigeria’s former President Goodluck Jonathan, according to Femi Gbajabiamila, the leader of the house.
Gbajabiamila was reacting to the widely reported order by the Chairman of the House Public Petitions committee, Uzoma Nkem-Abonta (Abia-PDP) directing six banks to allow the former first lady access to her accounts frozen by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
Reacting to the directive by the committee chairman in his official twitter handle, Gbajabiamila said the that did not approve such directive, stating that full house will hold a debate on the issue when the House resumes next week.
He tweeted, “Contrary to reports, the House has not made a decision on freezing of bank accts. The cttee report will be debated on resumption.”
