PDP will be stronger again – Jonathan

Nigeria’s former President Goodluck Jonathan is optimistic that the Peoples Democratic Party will survive the current internal crisis among its members and emerge stronger.

The former president made the statement in Bayelsa on Saturday as he received the report of the PDP Reconciliation Committee led by Governor Seriake Dickson.

Jonathan pointed out that the party does not need to resort to the law courts to settle disputes that could very well be resolved within the party. He also praised the reconciliation committee for being able to get the opposing sides together on the path towards peace.

“I have always believed that political differences should be resolved outside the courts, but unfortunately we are already involved with it and gone to the Supreme Court, but we are hopeful for a political solution.

“Party politics is supposed to be a family affair and ought to be resolved amicably without resorting to the courts,” the former president said.

Dickson added that he appreciates the opportunity the party leaders have bestowed on him to help rebuild the PDP, while crediting Jonathan for initiating the moves for peace and reconciliation.
