Remaining 30 abducted kebbi students freed by bandit

By our reporter/ The 30 abducted students and a teacher of the Federal Government College (FGC), Birnin Yauri, have regained their freedom, the Kebbi State government has confirmed.

The special adviser on media to Governor Atiku Bagudu, Yahaya Sarki, who confirmed the development on Saturday, said the victims would undergo medical screening before reuniting them with their families.

“Today, Saturday 8th January 2022, 30 students of Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri, and one teacher have arrived Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State capital, following their release,” Sarki said.

“They shall undergo medical screening and support while being reunited with their families.

“We thank all security agencies and those who have helped in securing the release while congratulating Mr President, Muhammadu Buhari, for the success.”

Armed bandits on motorcycles in June 2021, stormed the school and abducted many students and teachers.

One died during the attack while many police officers who engaged the marauding gunmen were wounded.

30 of the abducted students and three teachers were released by the bandits in October 2021.
