Chairman of the Senate Committee on Customs, Excise and Tariff, Senator Hope Uzodinma, has announced a probe into an alleged N4 trillion revenue leakage in the Nigeria Customs Service from 2006 to 2016.
Senator Uzodinma said the Committee is bent on recovering the money, which was lost mostly due to the non-implementation of Foreign Exchange Forms.
He noted that inadequate ICT infrastructure for documentation and monitoring of revenue collection, in addition to wrong classification of cargoes coming into Nigeria were other factors responsible for the revenue loss.
