Chidi Samuel || The Senate committee on federal character and Inter governmental affairs has announced that it has started investigation into the alleged lopsided recruitment by the Department of State Security.
Tijani Kaura, the chairman of the committee informed the senate at plenary on Thursday the the report of the committee will soon be submitted to the committee of the whole house.
The committee chairman citing order 43 of the senate standing order said his committee resolved to probe the recruitment by the DSS following petitions it recieved from members of the public and assured the the committee will do a thourough Job.
He said, “I stand before you, on behalf Senate Committee on Federal Character and Inter- Governmental Affairs, to say that this committee is looking critically into this matter.
“This is with the intention of ensuring that justice is done in this recruitment.
“I also want to add that this committee has similar cases from different agencies, which it is already looking into to ensure the Constitution is strictly followed.”
“In line with our standing rule, we cannot debate on the matter. We take note of your comment and we will look into the matter.
“The committee should keep us posted on its findings and recommendations.”
The senate committees probe is coming onthe heels of earlier request by the federal character commission asking the DSS to furnish it with details of the recruitment.
