The senate has postponed the presentation of the 2017 budget report proposal earlier scheduled for to today to Tuesday next week.
The committees of appropriation of both the senate and the house of representatives have been working on the harmonisation of the budget since President Buhari presented it to the Joint session of the house in December last year.
Senate Ahmad Lawan, the senate majority leader said Thursday that the harmonisation process in both chambers of the National Assembley was still in progress but assured the report will be ready next week.
“I have also equally been informed that by the grace of God, definitely, the Budget 2017 will be laid on Tuesday. Having said this, Mr. President, distinguished colleagues, I will move that we stand down this report to Tuesday, the next legislative day”, Lawan said.
Many Nigerian’s are hoping that this year’s budget will not suffer the fate of the 2016 which was mirred in controversy that delayed its implementation in a year that the Country was deep in recession.
