Ahead of Tuesday’s inauguration of the 9th National Assembly, Senators-elect on Saturday in Abuja endorsed Ahmed Lawan as unopposed to contest as Senate President.
The campaign group Chairman, Senator Yahaya Abdullahi from Kebbi, a second timer, explained that they proactively nominated Ahmed Lawan to avoid a repeat of what happened in 2015.
Secretary of the Campaign group, Senator Jibrin Barau called names of Senators that have so far endorsed Ahmed Lawan’s candidacy.
Recall that Senator Danju,a Godje, yielded to the pressure of stepping down from the race few days ago after a meeting with President Mohammadu Buhari while Senator Ali Ndume, another strong contender, has vowed never to give up his ambition no-matter the amount of pressure.
