Senate recalls Alli Ndume from suspension

Ebun Francis || The Senate on Tuesday agreed to recall Alli Ndume, the Senator representing Bornu South in the National Assembly from the 90-day suspension he was placed on.

Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu said the Senate after a closed door meeting agreed to recall the Senator ”without prejudice to the existing court processes”.

Ekweremadu said,  “In the closed door session, the Senate also discussed the suspension of Ali Ndume and resolved that he should resume sitting in Wednesday 15th November 2017 since he has served his suspension of 90 legislative days without prejudice to the current court processes.”

Senator Ndume was suspended from the Senate in March for allegedly insulting the leadership of the house.

The suspension was quashed by an Abuja high court last Friday but the Senate over the weekend said it will appeal the Judgement.
