The Senate this morning in what many has described as a blow to the anti corruption efforts of President Mohammadu Buhari rejected Ibrahim Magu’s nomination as Chairman of the EFCC. Magu is not in the good books of many of the Legislators who are currently being investigated for one crime or the other.
The acting EFCC Chairman of EFCC, went to the National assembly this morning alongside other nominees of the commission for screening but the Senate rejected his nomination over a report from the Department of state services(DSS).
Addressing Journalists on the matter, Senate Committee chairman on Media and Public Affairs, said the rejection was based on “security report.”
He said the rejection would be communicated to President Muhammadu Buhari to take further action.
The news of Magu’s rejection by the senate did not, however, suprise many people as the news media was awash with reported plans of many in the senate and other high profile individuals even within the Buhari inner circle who were uncomfortable with his no nonsense approach to the war against corruption to reject his nomination.
