Senate set new date for Custom Boss

Chidi Samuel || The drama over the appearance of the Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service, Col. Hameed Ali (retd.) before the senate continued Wednesday with the non appearnce of the Custom CG before the senate.

The Senate has resolved that Col. Ali must appear before them on Thursday.

This followed the reading of a letter by the Senate President sent by the Col. Ali stating that he was bereaved.

Part of the letter read, “I’ll make myself available whenever I’m needed in future,” the Customs CG, however, told the Senate in his second letter to President of the Senate.

Meanwhile, indications have also emerged that the the Presidency may have wadded into the face off betwwen the Custom CG and the senate following President Buhari’s arrival from the United Kingdom. The intervention probably lead to the decision of the Nigeria Custom Service to suspend for now the policy on payments of duties on old vehicles which was also conveyed to the Senate on Wednseday.
