The rift between the Executive and the Legislature continued Tuesday with the suspension of the screening of nominees sent by the Executive by the Senate.
The decision to suspend the screening of nominees followed a followed a motion raised by Senator Ahmed Yerima, representing Zamfara West questing why the Acting President should send a name to the upper house for confirmation when he had earlier submitted that they lacked the power to confirm.
The Senators apparently were referring to a comment reportedly made by Prof Osinbajo over their power to reject the nomination of Mr. Ibrahim Magu as the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).
It will be recalled that the Acting President before the Senate went on break submitted the name of Lanre Gbajabiamila as the director-general of Nigeria Lottery Commission.
