Shocking: Police rescue 300 chained, tortured persons in Kaduna

The police in Rigasa, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Thursday rescued 300 children and adults chained together by their minders.

The children said to be from Burkina Faso, Mali and other African countries were rescued following a raid at a home used as an Islamic Centre.

According to eyewitness accounts, adults amongst them were subjected to torture and daily recitation of the Holy Quran and prayers.

Unconfirmed accounts also suggest that some of the children had been sexually abused.

The Kaduna state police command is expected to make further clarification on the development in the days ahead.
