Stop Biafra agitation now! Okorocha to IPOB, MASSOB

The Governor of Imo state and one of the leaders of the All Peoples Congress in the South East, Chief Rochas Okorocha has called on the various groups and individuals responsible for the current agitation for the actualisation of an Independent State of Biafra, to stop doing so immediately.

According to the governor, the Igbos are not ready for another bloody civil war.

Okorocha made his feelings known at government house Owerri, during a radio programme.

While urging MASSOB and IPOB to put an end to the agitation for Biafra, Okorocha advised Igbo youths to instead, redirect their agitation towards the actualisation of economic advancement of Igbo rather than asking for a new sovereign nation.

Shading light on the recent sit-at-home order by IPOB and MASSOB, the Governor said the exercise was successful because the people, especially traders, wanted to avoid trouble.

The governor described the recent call by Arewa youths for the Igbos to vacate the North as ”nonsensical and inciting”, stating that the Igbos were peaceful people, who had more than any other ethnic group contributed to the economic development of the country.

He, therefore, called for a total reorientation of youth to repair the broken political relations between the North and the East and end the existing hatred and division between them.

“We have failed as leaders hence the campaign of hate for one another; we need to take responsibility and end it”.

“We need to rise and take steps to end it and get rid of the inherent hatred and division we inherited from the colonial masters.” he said.
