Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, was at his humourous best at the public presentation of the book ‘Africa Rise and Shine’, by Jim Ovia, chairman of Zenith Bank.

At the event at  Eko Hotel Convention Centre, Lagos, the Lagos state governor was invited to speak immediately after Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, the national leader of the ruling All Progressive Congress finished his remarks.

Aware of the uneasy relationship between them, Ambode mounted the podium, and after acknowledging some dignitaries, asked rhetorically, ”Actually, I didn’t prepare to come and say anything here… And who am I to speak after the Jagaban has spoken?’

This remark drew laughter from the audience. Ambode went on subsequently to speak about Jim Ovia.
