Wike: Ayu’s children will disown him if we reveal his secrets

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state on Friday said the children of Iyorchia Ayu, national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), will disown him if his antics in the party are revealed.

Wike, who has been at the forefront of the fight to unseat Ayu as the national chairman of the main opposition party stated this on Friday in a media chat in Port Harcourt.

The Rivers governor, who has been at the centre of the demand for Ayu’s removal from office, also alleged that the PDP national chairman received N100 million bribe from a sitting governor.

“In fact, let me also tell you, Ayu collected N100 million from a governor,” Wike said.

“If not for the love of this party, if we release what we have, Ayu’s children will go to him and say we are no longer your children.”

When asked why Ayu has not been prosecuted by the party, Wike said the national chairman cannot be charged unless he steps down.

“Who is going to prosecute you? Who is the chairman of the party? he asked.

The new revelations come days after Wike described Ayu as “very corrupt”.

The Rivers governor had also claimed that Ayu collected N1 billion from one of the presidential hopefuls in the party.

“Ayu is very corrupt. I’m totally informed. Ayu has the opportunity to challenge me,” he had said.

“Some of the governors can tell you. Will he deny the fact that he didn’t collect N1 billion from Lagos? Let him deny it, I will tell him who gave him the money, not from the Lagos state government, the money was given to him in Lagos.

“He met one of the presidential candidates and told him that he’s not sure these governors may want to sponsor the party.

“That money did not enter into the account of PDP, but we are not attacking Ayu on that basis.”

PDP can’t win 2023 elections if l leave the party…

The outspoken Rivers state governor, further stated that without his support, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) cannot win the 2023 elections.

According to him, his influence and that of his allies should not be underestimated as the party needs them to win the 2023 polls.

“The concession we have made is that we won’t leave the party. Assuming we say we will leave the party, do you know the effect of that? Wike said.

“Whether you like it or not, if I leave the party today, PDP cannot win. If we are leaving, we are leaving with all our people, and that is the truth of the matter.

“However, let this man go, the zone that is supposed to produce the chairman, produce the chairman and you don’t want to make the concession. What concession have they made?

“Do you think that today, we the five governors say we going to a party and there will still be PDP?

“If the five governors say we are leaving the party, forget all this noise people are making, we are very formidable. We are not just ordinary governors, we are very formidable, we are very strong.”
