Ebun Francis || Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Nigeria’s Acting President has put to rest the controversy surrounding who will assent to the 2017 appropriation bill passed by the National Assembly last week.
It will be recalled that information minister, Lai Mohammed while answering questions from reporters at the end of the federal executive council Wednesday sparked off the controversy over the signing of the budget by saying that it was not yet known who will assent to the budget between Acting President Yemi Osinbajo and President Muhammed Buhari who is currently on medical vacation in London.
However, that uncertainty has been put to rest by the Acting President who said he will assent to the budget when he is satisfied with its contents.
The Acting President’s position was disclosed by Laolu Akandi, his special assistant on media and publicity.
“Just so we are clear: when the time comes, everything is set, & he is satisfied, Ag. President Yemi Osinbajo will assent to the 2017 Budget,” he tweeted through his official twitter handle @akandeoj.
The 2017 budget as approved by the National Assembly is yet to transmitted to the Presidency.
