Youths renounce cultism, prostitution in Delta

Everest Ezihe ||Scores of youths in Delta State last Wednesday openly renounced their membership of different cult groups and prostitution during the official inauguration of the State chapter of the Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN).
 
The repentant youths were received on behalf of the National Patron of the association, Chief Uche Nwosu by the YAN National Speaker,
Rt.Hon.Samuel Chukwubuikem Godstime.
 
Meanwhile, it was a mild drama shortly before the inauguration of the Delta State Speaker, Amb.Emeka Emueze, when about eleven prostitutes and five cultists boldly stepped out and renounced their involvement in cultism and any other crime.
 
One of the repentant youths, aged 32 who gave her name as Miss Ese Etiosa said she has been in the business of prostitution for over ten years until yesterday when a member of the youth association spoke to her about the association and the need to jettison her kind of lifestyle.
 
Incidentally, three out of the five repentant cultists begged the YAN leadership to set them up in Vulcanizing business so that they can have a legitimate means of livelihood.
 
In his speech, the National Patron, welcomed the repentant youths to the YAN family, urging them never to go back to their already denounced old practices.
 
He promised to provide Vulcanizing machines, hairdressing equipment, and other necessities to aid them in their skills acquisition empowerment programme.
 
Barr.Daniel Obi Okolie (Patron of YAN, Delta North) thanked Chief Nwosu on behalf of Delta state government as he promised to live up to expectation as state zonal Patron of the Youth Assembly.
 
Also speaking, the immediate past Chairman of Aniocha South LGA Hon. Emmanuel Sorokwu, said he was not surprised about what the YAN leadership is doing because according to him,  “Chief Uche Nwosu, YAN BOT members and YAN Ambassadors are progressives”.
 
Chief Patron of YAN Delta state chapter, Hon. Prince Ned Nwoko who was a member of Federal House of Representatives congratulated the newly inaugurated YAN Speaker; Amb. Emeka Emueze and all the 25 LGA YAN Coordinators of Delta state, urging them to be good Ambassadors of the State.
 
The event had over 650 youths including all YAN ward coordinators in the State in attendance.
