Pasror Enoch Adeboye the General Overseer of the Redeem Christian Church of God (RCCG) has not stepped down. The revered Pastor only relinquished his position as head of the Nigerian Church in compliance with new legal requirement set up by the Nigerian Financial Council for all registered churches, mosques and Csos, which stipulates that heads of non-profit organisations like churches now have a maximum of 20 years to lead such organisation while in retirement. Adebayo will still remain worldwide overseer of the RCCG while Pastor Joseph Obayemi will head the Church In Nigeria.

The church made the clarification in statement by Leke Adeboye, the clergyman’s last son and personal assistant following divergent media reports following the earlier announcement of the structural changes in the church at a meeting Pastor Adeboye held with Church Pastors from across the Country. The statement also reiterated that Pastor Funsho Odesola will serve as the New Church secretary while another Pastor, Joseph Adeyokunu will be the new church treasurer.
