Three unions in Nigeria’s aviation sector have shut down the operations of Arik Airlines following management’s failure to reinstate its sacked workers.
The unions had earlier, on Wednesday, threatened to picket Arik if their demands were not met. The unions, comprising the National Union of Air Transport Employees, Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, and the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers, on Thursday, stormed Arik Airline’s office at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
