Buhari punishing the Igbo with fuel scarcity- Ohaneze

Chidi Samuel || The apex Igbo socio-political organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo on Sunday said that the fuel crisis currently being witnessed in all parts of the country is an attempt by the current administration of President Mohammadu Buhari to “impoverish” the Igbo.

The president-general of Ohanaeze, John Nwodo stated this in his Christmas message to Nigerians even as he described the scarcity as “unfair and insensitive”.

According to Nwodo, the fuel scarcity was a deliberate attempt by the administration to ensure the Igbo expend their resources on its effects.

He, therefore, urged the Igbo staying outside the south-east to “think home with their wealth”.

Nwodo’s statement read, “They know that at this period in the year Ndigbo travel a lot to their homeland, that’s when the government chose to close our airport, that’s when they allow fuel shortage to take place, this is very unfair and insensitive.”

“It’s a deliberate policy of impoverishing our people to ensure that whatever wealth our sons and daughters bring home during Christmas is expended on the obvious effect of fuel shortage and none for investment.

The Ohaneze leader urged south-easterners “not to be discouraged” with the current situation, warning that deliberate attempt to undermine the economy of Ndigbo would eventually affect the entire country.

“The proceeding events in the country especially as it relates to Ndigbo since this administration came to power underscores the imperatives for our people to think home with their wealth,” he concluded.
