Coronavirus infections in decline as Nigeria confirm 221 new cases

Chidi Samuel| The novel coronavirus appears to be in retreat as the country recorded 221 new cases of the virus on Wednesday.

In a Tweet via its verified Twitter handle, the Nigeria Centre For Disease Control said the new infections were recorded across twenty states and the FCT.

According to the health agency, Plateau for the second day running recorded the highest number of new cases -60, followed by FCT-33, Kaduna-26, Rivers-18, and Lagos-17.

Other states with new infections include, Enugu-9, Kwara-9, Ondo-9, Nasarawa-6, Gombe-5, Anambra-5, Delta-4, Abia-4, Imo-3, Edo-2, Ogun-2, Oyo-2, Osun-2, Bauchi-1, and Kano-1

The health agency further revealed that so far, Nigeria has 53,021 confirmed cases of the highly contagious virus with 40,281 discharges and 1,010 deaths.
