Emmanuel Hussain a 19-year-old motorbike mechanic in Bauchi state, northern Nigerian has told the BBC his eyes were removed by people who wanted to use them for ritual purposes. According to him he was tricked by two acquaintances in the village of Marti to go swimming in a nearby river but when they got to the river they attacked him with a chain and tried to strangle him.
Emmanuel woke up to realise that he couldn’t see and his screams attracted passers by who discovered that both his were missing.The patient who said the incident occurred two weeks ago is being currently treated at a Bauchi hospital.
Nigeria has in recent times witnessed alarming cases of of ritually related killings across the country.It is a source of concern to relevant government agencies and well meaning citizens.
The Police in Bauchi are currently investigating the case but the two suspects are yet to be arrested.
