President Buhari to return today, will address the country on Monday

Chidi Samuel || President Mohammed Buhari is expected in the country today, according to Femi Adesina, the special assistant to the President on media and publicity.

Buhari left the country on May 7 for an extended medical vacation in the United Kingdom for an undisclosed illness.

In a statement on Saturday, Adesina who did not go into specifics simply said, “the president would return later today”.

He said, “President Muhammadu Buhari returns to the country later today, after receiving medical attention in London.”

“The president had left the country on May 7, this year, after handing over power to Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, who has functioned as acting president since then.”

According to Adesina, the president is “expected to speak to Nigerians in a broadcast by 7 am on Monday, August 21, 2017″.

“He thanks, all Nigerians who have prayed ceaselessly for his recovery and well-being since the beginning of the health challenge,” he added.

The President’s return is expected to halt temporarily the unending speculations over his health.
