Refuse dump mounts in Umahia, Abia State capital

Large mountains of dirt are beginning to spring up around Umahia, the Abia State capital with no signs that the state environmental authorities are clearing it up anytime soon.

The site of the dirt has constituted an eyesore at the popular Isigate and Ameke junction (Bende Road), which may lead to an outbreak of epidemic.

Residents of the city are calling on Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to direct the Abia State Environmental Agency to rise up to their responsibilities and clear out the refuse littering the area.
