Ozubulu Massacre: Rights Group Tasks Police IG, Others on Killers

Everest Ezihe || Following the widespread condemnation that trailed the last Sunday’s massacre of no fewer than 50 worshippers at St. Philips Catholic Church Ozubulu in Anambra State, a pressure group known as Rochas Fans Club International (RFCI) has tasked the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mr. Idris Mohammad alongside other security operatives in the country to work assiduously towards unraveling the mystery and those behind the dastardly act.

In a press statement issued on Thursday, August 11th, 2017 the National Coordinator of Rochas Fans Club International, Rev. (Dr) Chima Nwulu wondered why some people are so callous and not afraid of the wrath of God. He condemned in its entirety the incident which he described to be a sin against God and humanity, having invaded the House of God to perpetrate such heinous act.

While reiterating that the nation does not require such acts of sabotage at this auspicious period, the National Coordinator charged the Nigerian youths to either avoid been used as agents of destruction nor participate in any form of criminal tendencies. Although, he regretted that despite whatever that may have transpired, it is not enough to visit their evil intentions on the innocent worshippers.

Rev. Nwulu, also the General Overseer of Salvation Time Mission International aka (Victor’s Chapel) therefore implored the Inspector General of Police not to relent in bringing the culprits to book, even as he asked the Anambra State government to urgently facilitate adequate security measures in the State to forestall further repeat of the ugly development.

Our correspondent, gathered that the yet to be identified gunmen who were said to be allegedly on the trail of one Mr. Aloysius Ikegwuno, a prominent citizen of the area and business mogul up to St. Philip’s Catholic Church auditorium during worship hours of the day but ended up shooting fire sporadically on the people, having missed their target.

Among those who were touched by the bullets includes the father of the assassin’s target, under aged children, young and aged parents whereas blood of the slain Christians overflow the Church auditorium like water amidst tears of sorrow.

Consequently, the servant of God who advised the citizens to always avail the police with necessary information that could possibly lead to the arrest and prosecution of the fleeing gunmen, however, offered special prayers for the nation, God’s mercies and repose souls of the victims.
